Five years ago users could only interact with the computers interface and read monthly or daily posting by the websites publisher such as National Geographic or IBM. Now users can communicate with each other by sharing ideas or comments in real time around the world on the Internet on networks like Facebook and Yahoo. The user can now buy and sell online goods and other miscellaneous items online on behalf of companies like Amazon and Kijiji. The Internet can also give the user a choice of whether or not they want to sign up. If the user agrees it will be through a contract which entitles the provider to sell the users information such as his/her personal hobbies and traits for things like surveys. Social media outlets like Facebook make money through banner ads, referral marketing, casual games directed toward the user and also by mailing person special flyers and deals on lets say skateboards and skater clothes both electronically and physically.
Explain how these sites are perfect examples of Web 2.0:
Yahoo is a perfect example of web 2.0 because it demonstrates a users ability to interacte with other users around the world by commenting and rating thier videos live on the internet. The user can also download and post an unlimited number of video's on Yahoo and with Yahoo you don't have to go to America's Got Talent you can show you talent online and become a star. One example of this is how Justin Bieber a farmhand who worked in Stratford, Ontario was awarded a recording contract by none other than the famous and well renowned Toronto rapper Drake. Therefore Yahoo is a perfect example of virtual talent that is available 24/7 year round.
